Get ready to be mad.
For a Catholic city, New Orleans sure has a metric ton of sacred cows. There are restaurants, traditions and ideas that are off-limits as far as criticism is concerned. Even though we like to think of ourselves as a city where everyone can do what they wanna, stepping out of line with the consensus on certain topics will be met with quick and stern retribution. Local Redditors have had enough. They created a space for residents to let out their most out-of-order views, asking folks to share their unpopular opinions on the city.
Take a look at a few of the best below:

[JazzFest] should cap ticket sales. The last 2-3 years have been very unenjoyable for me due to crowd size. â u/rollwave21

Living in Metairie is OK, especially if âbeing able to walk across the street to a barâ isnât on your list of must haves and âfunctioning AC, properly insulated house, no boiled water alertsâ is on your list of must haves -u/Kryten_2X4B-523P
Locals?
Transplants are a good thing and are the only way this city will survive, long-term. We need some outside competency and investment â u/Esipmac
Go Big or Go Home
Mardi Gras needs an overhaul. It is an ecological mini disaster. Useless plastic by the hundreds of tons introduced into the environment and thrown away shortly thereafter serving no useful purpose. The trash people just throw everywhere. Diesel engines and gasoline engines idling away and running for hours and hours. Not to mention the traffic jams, the mediocrity of many troupes and krewes, the extended fuckery caused all over the city for two weeks every year, and all the other crap that comes with Mardi Gras â u/nonaffiliated
Fighting Words
Willie Maeâs Scotch House is too expensive, sides are too small and the chicken isnât any better than Popeyes â

Donât Do It
People who compare the city to a third-world country are annoying and have not been to or know enough about actual undeveloped nations. The city has a lot of problems that need work, but overall, this is a decent place to live compared to many, many other places in the world. We should be more grateful, more present, and enjoy our time while also trying to improve things.
Also, crime here is not a mystery. Itâs a cycle that people purposefully avoid looking at head-on because it scares them â u/petitcochon
