Louisiana launches ‘Shot At A Million’ vaccine incentive

You have a chance to win a million dollars, just by just getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Gov. John Bel Edwards announced the state is giving away $2.3 million in cash and scholarships as part of the Shot At A Million incentive for anyone who registers in the drawing with at least one vaccine. Four adults aged 18 or older will reportedly win $100,000, while nine children between the ages of 12-18 will win $100,000 in scholarships. One grand prize winner will get the $1 million prize. Registration runs from June 21 until July 31.

Tropical Storm Claudette causes severe flooding, damage across Gulf Coast

While New Orleans missed the majority of heavy rainfall from Tropical Storm Claudette, the storm dumped nine inches of rain in Slidell Friday night. Monday the storm reached the coast of the Carolinas and has killed 13 people, including eight children who died in a highway crash Saturday in Alabama.

Second lines return to New Orleans

Thousands of people filled the streets Sunday afternoon for the first city-permitted second line since before the COVID-19 pandemic. Dancers, performers and onlookers shuffled from Lasalle Street to Jackson Avenue, marking more than a month since Mayor LaToya Cantrell eased virus-related restrictions on dancing and parades.
