The all-female krewe was the first Carnival parade to go through the East in decades.
The Krewe of Nefertiti Family Day Parade brought back neighborhood Carnival / Mardi Gras parades to New Orleans East for the first time in decades on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020. Established in 2018, the krewe is an all-female social aid and pleasure organization cultivating the community through volunteer service and fundraising.
New Orleans Councilwoman Cyndi Nguyen and Louisiana Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser toasted the Krewe on Read Boulevard neat Lake Forest Blvd. The Krewe included Grand Marshal Jessica Dupart, Captain Zenia M. Smith, and the first Queen Nefertiti Julie Greenburg.
