Shimmy & Bump, burlesque basics spice up your fitness routine

Burlesque takes some serious stamina. Learn the basics here and head to a local class for a new way to stay fit

At Very Local New Orleans, we never get bored, even when it comes to staying fit.

We are always looking for new ways to burn some calories, build muscle or increase stamina, and we want to look good doing it. A local queen of burlesque, Ms. Trixie Minx, helped show us some of the basics of burlesque that can be incorporated into fitness routines, or hey, even our daily lives if we’re feeling sassy.

Luckily, we live in a city where you can enjoy burlesque all week long and can take classes to learn how to shimmy, bump and twirl into a burlesque bawse, like Very Local NOLA’s own burlesque workshop, which took place on Sept. 18.
