Choosing between the Beignet Fest and Spoker Poker is tough. We say chow down on fried down then burn off the cals at Spoker Poker!

So, first, I just want to apologize for that headline. Clint Durrett is the punny man of Very Local New Orleans. I’m just steering this ship. So, this weekend, we have a whole lotta festivals going on. Ah, fall festival season is just as rewarding as our main festival season in its own way. The festivals are smaller and more niche, but very local. And that’s what we’re all about here.

Beignets are always worth a celebration. Every now and then we all deserve to stop and enjoy the fried dough and powdered sugar treat with some chicory coffee, even if we’re wearing black. It’s one of the easiest and best ways to treat yo’self in our city. Now we have an entire festival dedicated to beignets, in all their forms, sweet and savory. Indulge, New Orleans. These are the reasons we love New Orleans. This is the festival’s third year and they will have 30 different beignet dishes from a variety of vendors.
