Weekend Picks: LPO takes Bowie, Friendsgiving, Gumbo Fest

No matter what you do this weekend, make sure you bundle up. Temperatures are forecast to be in the sixties and with the wind, it’s definitely brisk out there.

Fri. Nov. 16, 2019

What: Fête des Fromages
When: Noon to 4 p.m.
Where: New Orleans Jazz Museum
Price: $10 entry fee

This two-day fest features more than 150 cheeses, two dozen international cheesemakers and win, of course! There will also be cured meat and pate from Trois Petit Cochons, crackers from Rustic Bakery and preserves from Terrapin Ridge Farms. Click here for more information.

What: Congo Square Rhythms Fest/Treme Gumbo Fest
When: 11 a.m. –  7:30 p.m.
Where: Armstrong Park
Price: Free to enter, food prices vary

This fall, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation will present two of its popular festivals on one weekend – Treme Creole Gumbo Festival and Congo Square Rhythms Festival.  There will be two stages of music celebrating the New Orleans traditions that spring from the African diaspora: jazz, funk, contemporary and traditional brass band, gospel and rhythm & blues.
