What To See At ‘Moonlight On Magazine Street’

All of the shops will be worth dipping into during the 'Moonlight On Magazine Street' block party, but we definitely have a few favorites.

For its sixth year in existence, the Cool Down Block Party decided to switch things up. The party now known as “Moonlight on Magazine Street” kicks off on Saturday, July 29 in the 3900-4600 blocks of Magazine Street. (That’s Austerlitz to Valence, if you aren’t a robot.) While the yearly late-night celebration of New Orleans’ tonier shopping district has a new name, the shops still have the same great taste. So, we’ve picked out a few must-dos for anyone who finds themselves wandering Uptown.

Watch Delfeayo Marsalis at Peaches

The Uptown Music Theatre head and member of the legendary jazz family will bring his trombone stylings to (arguably) the city’s most-famous music shop. Complimentary beer from Abita and tacos from No Limit soldier-turned-chef Mia X will round out the evening.

Limited Edition Snowballs from SnoWizard

Unlike condensed milk, reasons and snowballs don’t mix. There’s no need for an excuse to grab a snowball, but if you find yourself in need of one, a limited-edition flavor is pretty solid. SnoWizard is making a special grape flavor dubbed “Moonlight” for the event, but all of its other delicious syrups will still be available.

We’re Up All Night To Pet Puppies

Adoptable and adorable cats and dogs will take over the No Fleas Market during the yearly party and children’s book author Robin Whaley will be on hand to sign copies of her book Lost and Found: The Adventures of Crescent City Kitty and Bone-A-Part.

Take In Some Tunes At Hey! Cafe

The coffee shop/venue will host the folky Caitlin Hill Trio and offer art and caricatures for sale.

What: Moonlight On Magazine Block Party
