What’s happening (virtually) in New Orleans this weekend: May 15-17

As stay-at-home remains the name of the game, we’re going to highlight some of the best online happenings going on around Virtual New Orleans! Here’s what we’re looking forward to this week:

Virtual Friday Night Flights | 6 p.m. | Facebook | $25 for the beer and $8 if you want to include tamales

NOLA Brewing is hosting weekly virtual flight tastings and this week’s theme is beer and tamales! Each of the four beers NOLA Brewing is presenting will be paired with a different flavor of tamale from El Pavo Real.  Learn more and order your beers (meant for two people, but works for between one and four individuals) as well as your tamales (optional, but encouraged) in advance. You’ll need to pick up your order curbside at the brewery on Thursday or Friday, and then keep an eye on the brewery’s Facebook page for the Facebook Live link.

Mannie Fresh | 7 p.m. | Facebook | Free, but gift cards to support The Maison and its staff can be purchased here.

Famous local DJ, Mannie Fresh hosts a popular DJ set (more than 10,000 viewers!) called “Virus-Killaz” each Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. Check out his Facebook page for the livestream at showtime.

Ellis Marsalis Tribute Night | 8 p.m. | Facebook | Free

Freaky Fridays | 8 p.m. | Facebook | Free

James Corbyn is a ghost hunter, Voodoo practitioner, historian, storyteller and collector of haunted artifacts. Each Friday he hosts a Facebook Live about another haunted topic. This week’s show will feature Ken Gerhard, a cryptozoologist featured countless times on History Channel and National Geographic shows. Swing by their Facebook page at 8 p.m. to tune in.

Love Tempo: A Distanced Dance Party! | 8 p.m. | Zoom | Donations accepted

Join the party via camera (or without camera if you want to keep it private) and dance or jam along to synth, pop and club classics from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s! Here’s the Facebook event page, and they’ll post the Zoom info as the event date gets closer.
