FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9

Cardio Blast Live Stream | 10 a.m. | Zoom (link will be sent upon registration) | Free
Join Footprints To Fitness for a free 30-minute cardio workout in partnership with FitNOLA and the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission. The class is designed for all levels so bring the whole family!

Quarantunes Virtual Concert | 2 p.m. | Facebook Live | Tips encouraged
Every Friday at 2 PM, the New Orleans Jazz Museum hosts virtual concerts with an exciting mix of talented Jazz musicians, all performing from their homes. This free online series, broadcasting to music fans around the world, highlights the rich culture and history of New Orleans. This week features Adam Weiner!

Virtual Happy Hour at Garden District Book Shop | 5 p.m. | Facebook Live and YouTube Live | Free
Each week during the pandemic, the Garden District Book Shop has hosted a virtual happy hour featuring New Orleans authors and literary lovers. This week’s conversations is with Steven Salvatore, whose debut Young Adult novel, Can’t Take That Away, will be published in March 2021. Bring your bookish questions, grab a drink and join the conversation!

Fridays from the Funky Uncle! | 7 p.m. | Facebook Live | Tips encouraged via PayPal, GoFundMe or Venmo
“Friday’s From the Funky Uncle!” is a webcast featuring New Orleans Funk Musicians playing live to raise money for all members of the entertainment community in New Orleans who are in need. Check here later in the week to see who’s performing this Friday!

Complete the Rock n Bowl trifecta with a two-hour set by CatchBack!

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10

Live FitNOLA Class – Power Yoga | 10 a.m. | Zoom | Free
The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission is leading virtual exercise classes every day of the week (often two or three times a day). This Saturday morning, this 45-minute class is focused on power yoga, but classes throughout the week are all different. Check out a list of the full offerings here and here to find out when they’ll be leading classes in Zumba, pilates, yoga, fitness, line dancing, swing, hip hop, senior fitness and much more! From 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Rolling River Rescue is offering an online option for you to see their pups available for adoption. Sounds like a pawsitively perfect way to relax after a ruff week.

Anais St. John and Harry Mayronne Sr. are back for another round of Saturday tunes. This week they’re featuring the music of Etta James — the superstar American singer who performed in various genres, including blues, R&B, soul, rock and roll, jazz and gospel.

Contraflow at Rock n Bowl | 8 p.m. | Facebook Live | Tips encouraged
Mid-City Lanes Rock n Bowl has been hosting a lot of great live virtual shows throughout quarantine. This Saturday night is Contraflow with a two-hour, high energy set!

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11

The Broad Theater Hosts Virtual Cinema | All Day | Kino Marque | Purchase tickets (see below)
Broad Theater is open for business, but if you’re not ready to step into a theater just yet, they’re partnering with Kino Marquee, who is bringing you a rotating selection of movies directly to your home. There are multiple ways to stream the movie (which can be purchased at any time and watched for five days after the purchase). This week there are two selections and you can click on the following links to find out how to purchase tickets for Oliver Sacks: His Own Life, and Jazz on a Summer’s Day.

Newcomb Day: A Digital Celebration | 10 a.m. | Instagram and Facebook Live | Free
In honor of “Newcomb Day” — the anniversary of the day that Josephine Newcomb wrote to Tulane expressing her desire to create a women’s college — the Newcomb Art Museum will host a digital celebration featuring new behind-the-scenes looks at the Newcomb Pottery collection, virtual tours of our permanent collection, an online exhibition, and more! Techno Club & The Fillmore present “More Love” | 4 p.m. | Twitch here or here | Tips encouraged
The Fillmore and Techno Club team up to bring you eight hours (!!) of the best techno music in New Orleans! Pop in for their weekly show!

NOMA Presents Helen Gillet and “Mending the Sky” | 6 p.m. | YouTube Live and Facebook Live | Free
Helen Gillet is a singer-songwriter and surrealist-archaeologist who explores synthesized sounds, textures, and rhythms using an acoustic cello. As part of the New Orleans Museum of Art’s Mending the Sky exhibition, Gillet will weave together a soundscape using cello, drum machine, sounds in nature, loop pedal, poetry and storytelling. In this solo performance, Gillet will explore the vibrations of sonic disturbance: the tipping points where swollen rivers of human tension and natural imbalances flood the banks of an unsustainable society.
